Good morning, Good Shepherd!

Here is your weekly update and the worship preparation for this upcoming Sunday, Dec. 16.

As we enter the winter season, please remember to check the various avenues for a potential worship cancellation: our Facebook page, your email, and the website announcement page;

... for morning worship (9:30am) as Pastor Jud preaches on Isaiah 11:1-10;

... for evening worship (5pm) as Pastor Jud preaches on Luke 1;

... for the upcoming Christmas Eve service of Lessons and Carols at 5pm;

... your voice to the upcoming opportunity to carol through our church neighborhood.  Date TBD;

... your time and volunteer for various needs for the church body, such as nursery, coffee preparation, etc. See the bulletin for details;

... your gift to joining a seasonal choir for the upcoming Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols service.  Practice continues Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3:30pm at the church.  All are welcome!

... by attending the adult Sunday school class continuing Dec.16.  Paul tells us to strive "side by side for the faith of the gospel."  Elsewhere, we are told to "exhort one another every day, as long as it is called today."  Again, the work of ministry is the work of all the saints of the church.  How do we cultivate a kind of church that we care well for one another?

Join the adult Sunday school class led by Pastor Jud as we study and discuss Ed Welch's book, "Caring for One Another" with the goal to love one another well because of God's love for us in Christ

... by "adopting" a child for the Angel Tree ministry.  Angel Tree season is upon us again, and Good Shepherd has received 8 names of children who have an incarcerated parent that has signed them up to receive a Christmas gift this year.  Tags are placed on the bulletin board in the narthex.  Please "adopt" a child by selecting their tag, and purchase a gift of $20 or so according to the guidelines on the tag (age, gender, and preferences).

Personal and Family Worship are great habits to warm your hearts to the blessings of the gospel promises and the joyful duties of walking by the Spirit by reading, singing, and praying.

Here is the list of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs we'll sing this Sunday to give you direction for personal and family worship:

#195, "Joy to the World"
#457, "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing"

#253, "There Is a Fountain filled with Blood"

#16, "Come, Let Us Sing Unto the Lord"

#193, "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence"
